Personal Attention Matters

Why Personal Attention and Experience Matter in a Workers’ Compensation Case
When you hire a lawyer for a workers’ compensation claim, you are not simply hiring someone to complete forms, collect medical records and get you a monetary recovery. You are hiring judgment.
Workers’ compensation cases develop over time. A lawyer must evaluate the facts, identify medical and legal issues, develop evidence, determine damages, communicate with physicians, take depositions, negotiate with insurance carriers and their lawyers, mediate the claim, and, when necessary, try the case. If the result requires further review, the case may continue before the Full North Carolina Industrial Commission, the North Carolina Court of Appeals, or even the North Carolina Supreme Court.
After handling thousands of workers’ compensation claims, I have encountered virtually every type of issue that can arise in a case. That experience matters because no two claims are exactly alike. Good representation requires more than a cookie cutter system, a checklist and a desire to get you "immediate" money. It requires knowing which facts matter, what evidence is missing, when to negotiate, when to wait, and when to fight.
At a boutique law firm devoted to workers’ compensation, I accept responsibility for the case and remain personally involved from the initial evaluation through its conclusion. The strategy is not fragmented among multiple departments or passed from one person to another. I know the client, I know the medical evidence, and I understand how each decision fits into the overall plan for the case.
Board certification is another important consideration. I am a Board Certified Specialist in Workers’ Compensation Law by the North Carolina State Bar. Only a small number of attorneys representing injured workers in North Carolina have earned this certification—roughly 115 statewide and fewer than 1% of North Carolina lawyers.
For an injured worker, experience, specialization, and personal attention makes a real difference. Your case deserves to be handles by a lawyer who knows it from beginning to end.
